Situated in the inner ring of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, Smyrna is just about 17 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. The city was ranked No. 4 as one of the Best Cities for Young Adults in Georgia and is home to a population of about 53,438 residents. Public schools in the area are operated by the Cobb County School System. There are two middle schools within the city limits and both feed into Campbell High School. While there are no city-operated schools, families still have a number of private school options including Whitefield Academy, the Lovett School and Buckhead Preparatory Academy’s satellite campus.
The Jonquil City has over 25 beautiful parks and community facilities available to all residents and visitors looking for either a relaxing or an activity filled day. Biking, walking, picnicking and other sporting areas are offered to the community. There are even two different dog parks nearby! Other amenities open to residents are yoga, ballet, Tae Kwon Do, gymnastic and dance classes as well as numerous summer camps. In addition, Smyrna hosts a number of year-round community festivities and encourages all ages to participate. One town favorite is the Spring Jonquil Festival which has free admission and includes fun for all! The Jonquil City Jog 5K, Interactive Kids Zone and the Crawfish Boil are a few of the activities to check out along with the live music, delicious food, and over 175 arts and crafts booths. Taylor-Brawner Park with Art, Fall Jonquil Festival, Santa House, Christmas at Brawner Coat Drive, Taste of Smyrna and the Smyrna Food Truck Tuesdays are a few of the many other events hosted by the city.
