Situated just 15 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, Marietta is located in central Cobb County and is home to just over 59,089 residents. As one of the Atlanta metropolitan area’s largest suburbs, Marietta continues to draw in a large population of residents who are happy to call it home.

The Marietta City Schools operate all of the public schools in the area, however, families have the option to attend any of the nearby Cobb County School District schools. The city has eight different public elementary school options for children and one middle school: Marietta Middle School. Marietta High School is the only high school in the area.

Marietta hosts a number of fun community events every year. There are arts and crafts festivals including the HarvestFest which is held every October and the May-Retta Daze which occurs the first weekend in May. One of the local favorites is the Brown Bag Concerts, where everyone is encouraged to pick up some lunch at any of the restaurants in Historic Marietta Square and enjoy to the free concerts at Glover Park! Another exciting city favorite is the Fourth of July Celebration. The city welcomes all ages to participate in the celebration which involves a parade, delicious food, carnival games, live concerts, museum tours, an arts and crafts show and a spectacular fireworks finale. Other annual events in Marietta are the Christmas Tree Lighting & Santa on the Square, Daddy Daughter Dance, Easter Egg Scramble, Glover Park Concert Series, Halloween Happenings, Movie in the Park and Scarecrows on the Square. In addition to these, Marietta also provides its town with the weekly farmers’ market filled with fresh foods and produce.

To dive a little deeper into the city’s culture, residents and visitors can check out the Strand Theatre, where the Marietta Players perform regularly, and the Marietta Museum of History which contains thousands of artifacts pertinent to the history of the city and state.

Dedicated to maintaining and improving its parks and recreation facilities, Marietta protects its existing facilities while developing new parks. Glover Park located on Marietta Square, Elizabeth Porter Park and Custer Park offer amenities like playgrounds, greenspaces, picnic pavilions and walking trails. Live Well Marietta is a partnership between the City of Marietta and WellStar Kennestone Regional Medical Center devoted to promoting a healthy lifestyle. The program is tailored specifically for Marietta residents and shows them where to locate nearby events as well as find the healthy menu options items at local restaurants.
